AltPubs is always looking for original creations that challenges conventions and speaks truth to power. If your writing doesn't fit anywhere else, it might be exactly what AltPubs is looking for.
We accept pitches from emerging and established writers alike. We do not discriminate by genre, educational background, literacy level, or prior publication history.
Response time: 6–10 weeks. We read every submission personally. If we are interested, you will be contacted for a 15-minute phone or virtual interview to ask clarifying questions, followed by an in-person consultation. You never spend your money, you can only make money. How does publishing with AltPubs work? We are a barter connecting creatives with their audience. We will front publication costs of your publication, and first we get whatever upfront costs AltPubs spent investing in your process is recouped in royalties until all overhead and a 20% commission on those costs are retrieved. Then, you recieve the majority of all royalties associated with your commission. Want to print more copies of your work? We can help with that too! After tracking the sells of the first lot of copies, we will determine the amount to print next. We can either cover the costs again for another 30% commission or you can choose to roll over royalty checks to print more, and no extra cuts out of your royalties! Could not be clearer or easier. What can AltPubs do for you that none of our competitors can? AltPubs allows creatives to publish their work as they envision to empower and liberate the creative, maintain control over how your creations are presented and published, who your publication reaches (uploading globally or just locally is up to you), and none of that includes you paying up front or letting go of your creatiive power over your story. Dr. Forté is the Founder and Current Editor in Chief of Alternative Publishing. A Dearborn-based writer, scientist, curator, and cultural advocate, Dr. Forté initiated our organization for accessible publishing to create space for the voices and stories that mainstream publishing has consistently sidelined and overedited, stolen from, and left in the margins of the industry.
With a background in community organization, computational toxicology, and environmental policy, Dr. Forté brings both editorial rigor, skills in digital footprints and data sovereignty, and a deep commitment to storytelling that has an impact on human life.
